For the past couple weeks, I've been dealing with a generalized itch (all-around the body). I'm not sure what it could be from -- I haven't changed my sheets, my shampoo, or anything that would cause an itch. I don't have a rash or any breakage of skin, either. My mother has eczema, but then all of these other symptoms came up: fatigue, body ache, sore throat, and sometimes I have trouble sleeping without waking up. I don't know what it adds up to? Maybe some STD? Maybe it's a food-borne illness? Maybe it's breathing in mold? Anyone have ideas or possibilities as to what the cause may be?
The main problem is the itching though, which seems to get worse at night (maybe when I get the chance to think about it more).
I don't have dry skin and I've always taken hot showers. Nothing has changed in my life, really. Any answer would be gladly appreciated .

generalized itch....I'll bet dollars to donuts it's an allergic response to something. Your job is to find out what. It could be mold, mildew, it could be a change in laundry detergent, it could be a change in the manufacture of your favorite soap and you wouldn't know it. See an allergist.

Just because you haven't changed anything in your life doesn't mean that your body hasn't changed. I used the same brand of body wash for ages, recently it has caused me to break out. Your body changes as you age. My suggestion is to wash all of your clothes, sheets, etc in a dye free/fragrance free soap. Buy the same in bar/body soap and a mild shampoo. Use a mild lotion for sensitive skin and back off on the hot showers for a week. If after that week nothing has changed, go to the doctor for some testing. The fatigue could be due to worrying what's wrong. Also get a humidifer in your room to help with your sore throat, trust me, that helps a great deal. In the end, if this doesn't work, see your doctor. Good luck.

Depending on where you live, it could be the change in the weather. The temperature and humidity drop, usually will cause your skin to dry out. Try adding some baby oil to your bath water, or rub it on in the shower. Works great for me.

I would definitely be going to the doctor with those symptoms. I would suggest body lice...but I don't know about the body aches, and sore throat. Hmmmmmm I am puzzled.
