check out openoffice.org.
They have some free software that is similar to MS products.

You can get the viewer for free off the Microsoft site. This will allow you to view, not create, the files. Otherwise, as already said in another answer, try openoffice.

I hear OpenOffice.org can open the files from Microsoft Office (Word Documents, Excel Spreadsheets, etc)
