pinot noir... its right in the middle... you need a high acid that will cut all the fat in the alfredo sauce... try to remember light colored foods (poultry plain pasta and fish) go well with whites, dark colored foods (meat, dark sauces, and vegetables (not asparagus it ruins all wines). dark foods go well with reds... any thing in between goes well with roses or blush wines.

I'd choose the wine for the sauce- red for Parmesan, white for the Alfredo.Any Italian red would complement the Parmesan nicely- Chianti, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, etc. Not being a fan of Italian whites, I'd probably go with a flinty California Central Coast Chardonnay to cut the buttery flavor and texture of the Alfredo sauce.

A good wine to go with that type of food i would suggest Sutter home Chardonnay. It is a reasonably priced white wine and has a good flavor. If you are willin to spend a lil more money then i would suggest Cloumbian Crest Chardonnay.
God Bless,
Chris

Go to the Italian red wine section at any decent wine retailer, blind your eyes, toss something soft into the air and buy whatever Italian red wine it bounces off of (except if it's a lambrusco).
Bueno appetivo.

Try bolla Valpolicella or any Pinot Noir. But I'll definitely go with an Italian. Valpolicella that is.
