I have forgiven him. The only thing that makes me angry is not that he's gay, it's that he was in a leadership position, representing our beliefs, and he is a hypocrite. That is terrible because many people on the verge of believing in Christ will think twice, thinking that maybe Christianity is a "grand delusion." That is my concern.

Yes, and no, it wasn't hard. I understand that he's only human. I just hate the fact that now people are going to think that ALL Christians are like that.

There was an old DC Talk song called "What If I Stumble", and it deals with being a Christian in the spotlight...and how they REALLY can't fall.
Maybe Haggard should have considered that more than he did.
It doesn't really matter if I forgive him or not. GOD needs to forgive him, and he needs to forgive himself.

HE should be forgiven. There is only one unforgivable sin and that is Denying Jesus or God the Father. Yes, the bible does , in fact, say that you shall not lay with another man as you do with a woman, but we have had Gay people attend our church, and it is forgivable. HE needs to confess to Jesus, not us. I think that I will forgive him once he confesses to God and stops having Sex with that man.

Honestly, Honey, I don't give the guy a second thought, except when the atheists try to paint us all with the same brush by using him as the yardstick, can you imagine such nonsense? I try to keep my mind on my OWN walk with the Lord, and let HIM deal with all this other mess!

Christian is too broad. I'm a Christian but I'm not in the same "denomination" as this Haggard guy, so what he does has no effect on me (which is good).

I have no feeling for Him good or bad.. I guess the people who actually know him can handle forgiveness... Jim

for what?

I don't get offended by a question or answers here so there is no offense to forgive,
and in this account I have no clue what the reference is too.

What should he be forgiven for? The drug use, Soliciting prostitution, Homosexuality (which i don't even see as a problem), lying, fleecing, or the utter hypocrisy that he surrounds himself with?

Everyone makes mistakes. The higher up you are on a pedestal the harder the crash. No matter who or what.

I've never much cared about any of that stuff... Didn't even know who haggard was until this whole scandal came up...
