I've never tried brake cleaner, but I have used hair spray to kill bees and it works great. Spray the bee with hairspray and its wings will stick together, making it unable to fly. After only a minute or so, the bee will stop flying around and you will then be able to sway it and kill it. Spraying brake cleaner in your house does not sound too healthy! Non-aerosol hairspray is environmentally friendly.

You should not kill them as they are important for pollination of plants and the world is short of these bees to do this job. But sometimes they are just in an inconvenient place. I have done this, in the dark place a sheet of plastic over the bush if that is where they bees live, and place a open container of petrol on the ground. The fumes just collects under the plastic like an umbrella and gases the bees. In one night bees all gone. You can tie the container down so no dog or anything can get it. A plastic bucket or any thing will do .It only need a 10 to 20 mm of petrol. Just keep it their until the bees are all gone.Good luck.

if the roof is really 18 ft high i don't think spraying something like that all over the house is a good idea. you'll probably miss.

Try using a vacuum cleaner with the wands attached to it. It works with all kinds of insects and such.

use nail polish remover - the smell of it kills them, so if you can get a rag close to the bee, you can douse the rag in nail polish remover, then watch the bee keel over and die.

or if you can catch it in a jar or container, you can just put a cotton ball of nail polish remover in there with him to kill him.

Bees will die within three hours if they are trappped inside a house or car or something. So, you could just wait....
