I'm so scared, I would like some reassurance from others who have been here before.

Dolly parvo is serious it is like the fatal flu for dogs. I am a vet tech at a 24 hour hospital and YES I have seen many survive even a little chihuahua!! The treatment is intense, IV therapy with additives like vitamins and anti-vomiting medication. The list goes on. However, this is expensive, the bill usually ranges in the $2000.00 area. If your dog survives, s/he will never get it again. Thankfully. There is a chance that you spend all the money and your dog dies, this is sad. My best advice to you is if you can financially handle the situation and your heart says you must, then do the full treatment. If it is not success full and you lose, I am sorry. In the future this can usu sally be avoided with early vaccinations and little to no exposure to other dogs and environments until vaccines are complete! I wish you all the best. Your pup does have a chance, if its body will cooperate.

I had a puppy who was diagnosed with Parvo 2 days after we rescued her. I stayed home with her for 10 days and gave her medication and fluid every 2 hours days and night... It was rough going, but she survived. She's now a huge, playful, goofy dog who had shown no ill-effects.

80% of dogs who receive treatment for Parvo in the early stages of the disease survive to live normal lives. That percentage drops if the dogs are treated too late or receive no treatment at all.

Barring other complications, your dog has a good chance of surviving. Just make sure you keep everything in her environment super-clean. Parvo is a very persistant virus and can live up to 6 months outside of a host if the conditions are right.

My brother's german shepherd had parvo as a puppy and he lived to be 13 years old (he was killed by a rattle snake).

Our 8 year old rooty/ chow mix had it when she was about 8 months old, the vet told us the same, no chance of survival. We gave her pedalite (for babies) and kept our eyes on her at all times, it took a couple of weeks and a lot of patience but she was worth it.... she is healthy and happy now, good luck to you!

I worked with a girl who's father was the police cheif. Her puppy got parvo and her father said that they put a cap full of bleach in their drinking water to cure it so she tried it and her dog is a beautiful black and tan german shepard. Healthy as a horse today.
