Why are there so many inconsiderate and even barely legal drivers now? Do you agree that convicted drivers should have to sit a compulsory test, including the new theory tests?

emmaf is right, make them see the effects of their actions.
I agree convicted drivers should take another test and the penalties should be much harsher. A driving licence is a priveledge , not a right.

i believe that all drivers should be retested every few years.
so many people pass their driving test then don't get a car on the road for several years.
or they take a break from driving for several years.

constant drivers, like taxi drivers and delivery workers also get over confident which leads to inconsiderate and dangerous driving some of the time.

we all have an off day where perhaps we don't concentrate as well as we should do on the roads but if everyone was retested on a regular basis, I'm convinced the roads would be less congested, there wouldn't be as many convictions and it would be safer for all.

Agree absolutely! Some of the driving on the roads today is truly appalling. If someone persists in a record of bad driving, then it should be clear that they simply cannot be trusted with a car/truck/whatever, and banned from the roads permanently. And jail if they are caught driving after that. I feel these gung-ho motoring programmes must take some blame - sensible people will realise the dangers of trying to copy such driving on the roads - morons don't

It depends on what they were convicted for, if it was for dangerous driving then yes. I also think that once drivers reach a certain age say 50 then they should be assessed every 3-5 years to see that they are still able enough (ie; quick reflexes)

Yes I do, and I also think that they should have their licence taken off them for a good number of years.
My daughter, her fiance and their best friend were all killed last year by an inconsiderate driver, in cases like that (and there are more and more of them) they should have thier licence taken off them for life, and they should be taken to either the morgue or intensive care unit and let them see what devastation they cause.

It's not so much "road rage " that annoys me, it's drivers who don't have the courticy to acknowledge you with a wave or a simple smile when you stop and give way to them.

What you see on the road is an example of our society in general. I don't know about re-testing. I'd like to see heavy fines or suspensions for cell-phone use. I'd like to see phones treated like legally carried pistols, locked up with the ammo (battery) seperate.

That wouldn't stop them from driving. There are a lot of lunatics out there. It's a scary, scary place.
