plenty of newspaper everywhere... get some air freshener
Try taking it for a walk before you go to bed -and dont feed it before bed either. A litter tray is a good idea (put it on tiles somewhere not the carpet)
DONT BE CRUEL by kicking it, rubbing its nose in it, locking it away in a small cage etc. None of these methods work, it just messes the dogs head up even more -and you will get in trouble if someone calls the RSPCA.

I also agree that a crate would help, if you buy a special bed and put in, and position the crate near where you sleep after a period of fussing and whining, he will probably start to like it. I would also include a small container of water and if he has food all the time, a small amount of food to see him through the night.
My mother had a Shetland Sheepdog that never trained right. Mother would hear nothing of a crate and so forth. Eventually, after the dog died at 11 years old carpets had to be pulled up, and the lino under was stained forever.
I would certainly want to get this cleared up as fast as possible.
The best of luck with your little Blighter!

Put your dog into a smaller room at night. Dogs naturally do not want to wet or dirty near their comfy bedding so by putting your dog into a more confined space this will stop him.
Also by taking your dog to the toilet at set times throughout the day ie. every hour on the hour, you will train his bladder to be stronger.
Don't make the mistake of cleaning up any accidents with bleach or ammonia based products as these mimic urine smells and therefore your dog will think it's OK to go in the same places again.
Take your dog out to the toilet as close as possible to bedtime as well and perhaps for the first few weeks of this new regime maybe you could get up in the middle of the night to take him to the loo???

Hiya Me,
has your dog been neutered?? if not get him fixed, this will help to no end, if he has been fixed, have you tried crating him, its the best thing since sliced bread, honest!! they see the crate as there little home, he will not pee init, just make sure you get the right size, make sure he can turn around, sit or stand, lay down legs stretched, but dont put paper in it, or toys, just his blanket, he will whimper at 1st, or bark, a firm No to these actions, nothing els, try him for 10mins at a time, then keep extending the time, he will be sleeping through in no time.. ( you can get full crate training on the Internet)...... Hope this helps some, good luck..... :-)

Definitely invest in a dog crate and put a towel or something in it to give your dog a cushion to lie on. This will become their space and they won't use it as a bathroom. This also helps to make sure the dog sleeps during the night and doesn't bark at nothing like my dogs do. I have two dachshunds who still have accidents, but they have not once used their crate as a bathroom.

It would be help to have some more details of the dogs' age, how long you have had him and whether this problem has existed since he was a pup or whether it started in adult hood.
If it is a simple housetraining problem I recommend crate training.
Whereas if it is an anxiety related problem, which happens when you are not in the room with him, there is a different method to help your dog.
Please post some additional details so we can help you more accurately.

I have a dog that is just like that. When you are away or asleep, put him in a doggie crate (if he has one). My dog has one as her bed. Majority of dogs don't like peeing where they sleep usually. Plus, everytime you catch him IN THE ACT you must scolled him right away and put him in the crate for a while (5-10 minutes) or put him straight out side. Everytime he does his buisness outside, when he done (not during the act or he will think that he is good EVERYTIME he goes), praise the crap out of him... tell him how good he is.

She's in all probability no longer getting adequate pastime and may well be performing out. right this is yet one greater reason that are loopy yet i've got heard this earlier. She could in all probability be accomplishing a factor the place she's in basic terms approximately in warmth and particular smells are attracting her to place her heady scent around. perhaps you men could wash your maximum suitable sheets and blankets to verify if that helps, in basic terms a instruction manual =)

i was told that the best way to cure this is to invest in a dog cage, dont get one too big, just big enough for dog to stand and turn around. apparantlely it makes them feel secure and they wont mess where they lie. my friend did this and it isn't cruel, the dog even went in in the day when the door was open. good luck
