This will vary from person to person, according to their tolerance for pain. Me, I didn't find the experience to be painful, just annoying. I smiled and felt fine through all three of mine, but I have friends that cried or passed out while getting a tattoo.
Give yourself some time to think about what you would like and if it's really something you want to do. Best of luck!

I have 4 tats right now and I will tell you honestly its a weird kinda pain. At first it hurts a little about 5-10 minutes I think it is a great feeling and I've heard others say the same. I have both of my upper arms done and it didn't bother me as much as having my chest done. When he hit the rib bones HOLY COW!
One thing you might want to ask your artist is if he can do a "blood line" first so you can judge the pain and see if you can go through it.
The only thing I would recommend is THINK about what you are going to get, It is FOREVER! Remember that. Think down the road, do you want your grand kids to see what you are getting?
I hope you really checked out the artist as well. I have 1 tat that really sucks! I went to a "fly by night" shop and got a crap tat that needs to be covered up.I wish I had done my research and choose better. Ohh well as the saying goes Se' la vie
Good luck!

Tattoos always hurt, but to what extend depends on where it goes and it depends on your tolerance for pain. The pain is hard to describe, but for my first tattoo, I was more freaked out by the sound of the tattoo gun than anything else. After that one, I was addicted and I now enjoy the feelings and experience of getting new tattoos. Most I know who dislike needles find tattoos and piercings to be more of a rush to where its not something they dread. As a piercer, I have learned skills to relax even the most jittery of people and the same goes for good tattoo artists. You'll be fine, just relax and keep in mind it'll be over with sooner than you think. Good luck to you.

I hate needles... hate them... but I have 15 tattoos.. its different for me, probably because I want the tattoos... but its going to hurt..no matter what anyone says it will hurt to some degree... so if you can handle pain and are 100% sure you want the tattoo get it.

Sorry to mention it, however a tattoo in your hip bone WILL harm.Generally the extra flesh there's, there much less it will harm and straight onto your hip might not be quality. From your different query I accumulate that it will be script, so the ache cannot final lengthy in any respect - might be five - 10 mins after which it will be over. Good good fortune!

Depends on how big it is or how much color is used. I have a little sun on my back and it doesnt hurt-like having a baby hurt or anything its just enoying. As long as your relaxed and have a good tattoo artist that gives you breaks in and talks to you and stuff its not bad.
The upper arm isnt as sensitive as your ankle or butt or back.
Go for it!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, not really!!!! im terrified of needles and decided to get a tattoo to conquer my fear and i got it on my hip. It doesnt hurt at all!! I was talking on my cell phone the entire time. A tattoo is the most overrated pain ever! I just feels like a toothpick dragging on your skin. But then again, it kinda depends on who you go to......a girl did mine and she had a really light hand so it didnt hurt. And a friend of mine went to a big fat guy who had a heavy hand and she started crying..but it all just depends on who you go to. Also, places where there is lots of skin (your upper arm) tend to hurt less than places with hardly any skin (chest or ribs) So good luck!
it doesnt hurt, its just really annoyning......once you start youll want it to be over within like 5 to 10 minutes AND mind you, tattoos are pretty addicting. Once you get your first one, you'll forget what it felt like and just end up with a million....i get my second one tommrow!

It feels like someone is scratching you continuously in the same spot, but after a while it becomes numb and doesn't hurt as bad. It is a tolerable pain. Good luck. I have two.

on the shoulder is not to bad...its a buring sensation mixed with feeling like getting stabbed with needle a thousand times. Muscle areas hurt less than fat tissue. The back, anywhere on the back hurts like hell
