Are you sure you are looking for deductions or do you mean "allowances"? There are several parts of your pay on which you are probably not taxed initially (I am basing my experience on preparing Navy and Coast Guard returns - I have not done a USMM return). If you mean actual deductions - they essentially will be the same as anyone's "work related" deductions - uniform expense; special equipment expense; essentially any expenses that you have to incur to have your job. There probably is not a "published" list of deductions you just need to know which expenses you HAVE to have to do your job.

To kja63 - someone who serves in the US Merchant Marines is referred to as a merchant mariner NOT a merchant marine.

I recommend Daniel J. Ruotolo of Ruotolo Spewak. He has done our taxes for 10 years and knew how to do everything we have ever needed. My husband didn't have W2s for years he had K1s. Plus we have lived in 3 different states and Dan was always able to help us. Also, if Dan can't help you, I'm sure he'll be able to recommend someone who can. I live in Wyoming now and we still send our tax stuff to NJ for Dan to do them.
