I'm trying to get an idea on how much people will pay. I am selling a '94 Honda Civic, 186k miles, some rust and body damage, nothing major. Needs a new muffler, but it gets 40-45 mpg average. How much would you pay? Thanks!

assuming it's an automatic...according to Kelly Blue Book the range based upon the condition of the vehicle as seen by the buyer:

Excellent
$2,830

"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. This vehicle has never had any paint or body work and is free of rust. The vehicle has a clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection. The engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects. The vehicle also has complete and verifiable service records. Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.

Good
$2,445

"Good" condition means that the vehicle is free of any major defects. This vehicle has a clean title history, the paint, body and interior have only minor (if any) blemishes, and there are no major mechanical problems. There should be little or no rust on this vehicle. The tires match and have substantial tread wear left. A "good" vehicle will need some reconditioning to be sold at retail. Most consumer owned vehicles fall into this category.

Fair
$2,005

"Fair" condition means that the vehicle has some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition. This vehicle has a clean title history, the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional. The tires may need to be replaced. There may be some repairable rust

It's 12 years old and it has 186K miles on it... that's not a good combo. I honestly don't think anyone will BUY it. I suggest that you GIVE it to a loved one that's in HS or college that just needs a vehicle to get from point A to point B.

$1300.00 - $1700.00

Also, I personally veiw Honda Civics (as well as select other vehicles) as being high risk because they are generally driven agressively, often altered from the stock setup, and ussually not properly maintained.

My girlfriend just bought her son one in really good condition with 110,000 for $1500. So here in the Dallas area it would prabably bring $800 to $1000

14 year old vehicle with rust and a bad muffler? Maybe $200. If I was feeling generous that day.

I don't like Honda's, but you'll probably get $1500 depending on the model (ie. EX, LX, etc..).

Try www.kbb.com. Good tips on selling your car. And they have used car pricing.
