Ok, i want a credit card just so i can have one for back up reasons.. But I have no credit and keep getting turned down for applying, how can i get credit if i have no credit . please help.

they have those secured credit cards, where you put up a savings account and they give you that amount in credit. It shows on your credit report as a credit, so you build credit that way.

Apply for a "secured" credit card.

Get a credit card with a paid account 1st. Then after a year of always paying they will increase your balance.

go to a bank. tell them you want a loan to open a savings account with. Take the money from the loan proceeds and deposit it in the account. Each month take out enough to make the payment. It will cost you only the interest difference between what you paid on the loan and what you earned on the account. It at least shows a prompt pay secured loan from a bank.

Apply for a student card. They have low limits and high rates, but you have to start somewhere. Try www.citicards.com. I'm not sure if they verify that youre a student.
