I Met this girl about 6 months ago. I told her somthing about me that wasn't true just to make myself look better and I never thought it was going to go anywhere anyway... now it's 6 months down the road, we are crazy about each other. This lie has nothing to do with how she percieves me, so it's not like I lied about somthing I was or wasn't... It's just starting to eat me alive... there isn't any way she could find out but It's still driving me nuts... im leaning towards let the past be the past... It's the only thing Ive ever told her that wasn't true, but it's still a lie nontheless...

you could always take the risk and tell the truth ... well, i know what ur trying to say here and personally what I can say... if ur both nuts about each other, there is a big possibility that the girl already knows about that little secret of yours and she is just waiting for you to admit about that lie you made...

Well yes it is in the past, but is it something she will lose trust over? You should probably come clean. You will feel a lot better and she may get mad but explain to her that you wanted to look good for her. She might understand that. Heck! She may have done the same thing about something! If you do chose to just let it go then don't let it get to you. But do what you think is right.

If it is really bothering you then for your own good, fess up. Better to have a clear conscience and mind than to have to tell another lie to cover the lie that you told in the first place. Besides you will score points for telling the truth. She may be a bit angry at first but if you are honest and not omit anyting including your reason for "telling an untruth", she'll understand and respect you more. Who knows maybe she has a secret of her own she would like to confess.

Be your own man and tell the truth...for you own peace of mind. It matters not what she may think of you but, what do you think of yourself? Good luck!

No matter what anyone thinks, lies have a way of coming out even when a person thinks there is no way it could. You need to be up front with her about it, be honest, tell her you just wanted to impress her and are sorry that you lied. Trust me, it will come out and what then if it's years from now it will be harder to for her to hear then instead of now. Good luck.

Hmmm...depends on how big the lie was. If it was something minor and reletively insignificant, I would just tell her the truth and tell her why you did it. If she is understanding, she will probably think it's funny and will give you credit for coming clean. Or, she could be upset and lose some trust in you. Tough call. If it is bothering you this much, you should probably tell her the truth.

I think you need to come clean. Explain to her what made you lie in the first place, and that you regret it. Hopefully your relationship would have grown strong enough in the past six months to where she will not assume that you have lied about everything else as well.

It is obviously bothering you. I think I would tell her that you have something that you need to confess. Sit her down and tell her. As long as it's not something really bad I think she will be touched by your sincerity. Go out have a good evening and try to be honest with each other in the future.

Been there done that.... When i meet my bf i did not think it was going anywhere........almost a year later i was preg, and in the beginning i cheated on him. I told him as soon as i found out i was preg. The only thing to do is to tell her the truth and tell her why you lied....but buy her something first

I guess it would depend on what the lie is. But of course tell her so you can stop driving yourself CRAZY.. But just for future make sure you are ALWAYS up front and honest, people do not like liars.
