my doctor usually has my pap results mailed to me in like a week. you would think if it came back with bad results they would call you right away...

If you have a pap test, and you are afaride it may show cancer, you will recieve results within 14 days (about two weeks) and if you do not get a phone call or anything like that in the mean time you should be just fine.

pap test doesn't show if you have cancer. they show only if there is any abnormal cell growth. and if your pap comes back positive for abnormal cell growth it doesn't necessarily mean that it is cancer {usually in about 3 to 5 days}. the doctor will usually have you come back in for another pap. at any rate the labs are unreliable at best, your test can be positive if you have a yeast infecting or something similar.

It takes as long to show cancer as it does to come back negative hun!

It takes as long as it takes either way. Do not assume that it is cancer if it takes longer.
