If you are not yet 18 then the age difference can be considered temporary because once you turn 18 your relationship would be legal. (He can go to jail for having sex with a minor)

However, why would you want to date someone who doesn't get along with your family? There is little future in such a relationship.

p.s. With your additional comments the situation is clear. He cannot legally date you for another 2 years. He will be going off to college where his friends will find it odd that he is dating a 15-16 year old. Sorry. Check in with him in 2 or 3 years and see if you are both still available and interested.

My guess is it means two things. (1) He really likes you and has every intention NOW of dating you LATER, when you both are older. But it also means (2) That both of you are going to have to wait until you both are older to start dating each other again. Which means neither of you will find anyone else in the meantime if the relationship will have a second chance...depending on how long you have to wait- this could be a problem.. My advice, which you didn't ask for, is to be his friend and find someone closer to your age. Open up to your parents. If you respect them enough to stop seeing this guy, then it shows you do have a certain level of maturity and self control. Ask them about what they feel is a proper "date" for you.

He is holding you temporary means he is looking for,To keep you hanging on him he says temporary. If the age difference is really matters ! Perhaps your parents won't agree later. Why don't you not looking of your similar age person or with a small difference. And Before dating consult with your parents about the age and general details about the person.Meeting a person doesnot meant you or he loves you. It's just a kind of attraction or likeliness. When both of you really step up in a final decision-go date and start loving him.Don't feel better there are lot peoples who promise and slide away.

No I'm not a guy. Guys will through so many curve balls-they're really good at too. But the one objective for a man while throwing you curve balls is to not piss the women off, no matter what comes out there mouths. Usually bunch of bull I.E., "it was temporary". Hold your head up everything happens for a reason. Maybe it's because your not legal and he could go to jail.

how big was this age difference???
i mean he may wanna get back with you
but obviously you are under 18 because your parents forbade you to date him and they could only do that if you were underage
so i say maybe start dating guys your age at least until you are old enough to get back with your ex

Maybe he was saying he'd wait until you were older, or that he'd expect you to sneak behind your parents' back to see him? Neither are in your best interest- your parents are right.
