Go out to dinner at a restaurant with out a reservation? No so bad with groups under 6 but over 6 people should make the restaurant aware they are coming. Don't you think?

I think it really depends on the restaurant. If it's a casual dining establishment, I can't imagine they much care. Management is just looking at the "bottom line" and wouldn't even consider turning 6 or more people away!

A "fine dining" restaurant is a whole different set of rules. Reservations are an absolute must! Most of them require reservations no matter how many are in the party.

Generally speaking, it's just good etiquette and good sense to alert any "sit down" dining establishment that you're going to be there. Especially when it's going to be more than two people.

yes they should those greedy mother f's lol
i think sometimes u just meet up in a group of people after a show or something or it was u know spur of the moment and u al want to go out to eat, if u know in advance def. make reservations but if not oh well, no restaurant will turn down 6 or more hungry customers when they add an 18 percent grauity to most checks soo moral of the story go in smaller groups just sit near each other lol

I am sure it isn't intentional for those people in that group of six or more to go to the restaurant without a reservation since they would be taking a chance of not being able to be seated right away. I think most of us are savvy enough in our dinning experience to know that reservations are necessary for group parties. Like the guy said, restaurant staff isn't likely to turn them down since groups of a certain number are automatically charge the gratuity and it certainly brings in revenue (especially if they are a drinking crowd).

It would certainly be more proper to not assume that there would be room for large parties and take the time to call ahead and make a quick reservation.

No, not unless reservations are required. Some restaurants do not require, and some require reservations for even two. This really depends on the prominence of the restaurant. However, it would be nice if people took it upon themselves to do so. And we all know that most people will not, do not and are not going to be that considerate. God bless

It would be much more easy on the restaraunt staff if most people did this. However, a restaraunt which does not require such reservations should be amply prepared for what they advertise .

Self absorbed, thoughtless, and egotistical. In other words, typical society members these days!
