if your dress is sleeveless or short sleeve start looking for a wrap NOW.

I'd get out reserve date invitations soon too..(before thanksgiving) so that ppl have it on their calender before they get side tracked w/the holidays.

think about warm or hot foods and beverages for the reception.

sometimes you can save on decoration if you use the stuff meant for Xmas...wreath as center pieces w/tall colorful candles in the middle.

check out the fabrics that are on sale * for table cloths..etc*

i was married in January...last minute for the same reason...only my hubby went to Afghanistan.

winter colors
1.dark green and gold...lots of greenery decor
2. blue and white or silver *my personal fav*....some sort of snow theme
3. red, gold and green...more xmas themed but you can use all those cute xmas decorations for you wedding...like the big xmas tree ornaments etc.Poinsettia plants everywhere....and greenery.
4. or keep it classy w/ black and white.

oh yeah..and don't listen to ppl that say "wait till he gets back"...most civilians don't get that they can be gone for up to a year sometimes! that's a LONG wait. and just for the poster above me...the mess dress that the military wears for formal occasions is NOT the issued uniform...and it costs some BIG bucks and blue and white is the AF uniform...not the marines LMAO! god...civilians!

I think a winter wedding would be beautiful. If it were me i would do Christmas colors, mabye a wedding gown w/ lace that kinda looks like snowflakes and a cake to match with poinsettas on it to give it that kick. and maybe bridesmaids in red or a light blue. I would look into a place you could rent last minute that would do it all have tables and chairs so your guests dont have to leave and go to a receptions but with out knowing were you at i would begin to have any ideas on where. Most pastor's or Justice of the peace will go where ever for a fee or donation.

I'd say use a church even if you aren't church going. That way the venue comes pre-decorated with all the christmas fun stuff. YOu don't have to spend money or time with decorations. Go now to get your dress. And don't go looking with any expectations. You are going to want one straight off the rack or from consignment. This way you don't have to worry about it not getting here on time.

Contact your local florist about in season flower. Poinsettias, holly, roses, and carnations will be easiest but there are others available. Since your fiance is a marine I assume he'll be wearing his uniform instead of a tux so that saves a lot on his end.

Your bridesmaids. It will prolly be easiest to let them choose their own dress. I think it is great to have different dresses on your bridesmaids. Something that matches your color scheme but still shows their individuality as your friends and or family.

Food. Find a catering store now if you are going to do a dinner or else go to Sam's or Costco for finger foods that are heat and eat. You'll also want to contact a bakery. I know this sounds really cheap, but it saves a lot of hassle. Sams (I don't know if you have those there) has wonderful cakes for not a lot of money. They don't deliver but they are wonderful.

Christmas is going to be the easiest theme. But snowflakes, icicles, etc are great too. Blue and white would look wonderful with your man's uniform.

All right. That's about all I can offer right now. Best of luck and congrats!

Congrats! This can be done! Keep it small and simple. Everyone has that special friend who's great at planning stuff, don't be afraid to ask for help.Go ahead and book the minister and order the cake.Next the dress. Find a bargain store for your dresses and order the tuxedos. You are going to be very busy, but you can do this.Since he's leaving so quickly the most important thing is to keep finding time for each other.Don't let any plans interfere with the time you have left together.Good Luck!♥

You might want to go to the JP and get things over with, in regards to the ceremony...but you can still have a huge cocktail reception. Instead of the usual sit-down dinner or buffet, it will be much cheaper to do hors d-ouvres...I'm not sure if it is going THAT much cheaper though since your date is so close to Christmas. Locations book out months, if not years, in advance so you'll want to get on a location quickly...or you could have it at a friend or relative's house and hire a caterer to come to you. Congrats!!

I've seen two very unusual bouquets that have stuck in my head all these years.. One was a lit lantern, very small, but very unique. The bridesmaids put them around the altar and added a very warm glow to the scene of the wedding. The second was each bridesmaid carried a small open purse with flowers coming out of it. It was a very different and refreshing look and idea and was commented on all night at the reception..

First, let's go for a winter season theme: long silver/blue dresses with long sleeves and victorian collars. Each person, given by the bride, has a small strand of fake pearls for her neck. The heels are silver. The bridesmaids carry ivory white and sky blue roses with traces of silver leaves (leave out the baby's breath--that would be white over-kill). The groomsman and best man wear silver tux with sky-blue ruffle shirts and slightly darker blue cumberbunds. Their shoes are silver (dyed). They probably wouldn't mind for this occasion---there are many things to wear with silver. They can always re-dye them to the color of their choice after the wedding if they don't wish to keep them silver. The ushers would wear ivory white tux with (depending on the number in the wedding party) alternating silver and sky blue ruffle shirts. If the number is uneven, gather them together for a quick vote one night. The flower girl would wear a sky blue dress with puffed long sleeves, ivory white hose, and sky blue shoes. If there were a small boy for the ring bearer, put him in the same combination as the groomsmen/best man. The flower petals are assorted:ivory white, sky blue, and silver.
2nd choice: The same ideas as above using maroon or red velvet and white velvet; the candlelabra, for a different twist, could be in forest green (a deep green) as opposed to a natural green. Good luck! I wish you and your husband-to-be well.

If you go with Christmas colors like red...you save a lot of money. Since you don't have a ton of time your girls could all wear black dresses that they pick out. Black dresses are the easiest for women to find since there are so many out there. My friend did a romantic christmas theme and it was gorgeous.

What about in the Spring (maybe) when he gets back? I would hate to have a Winter wedding because its too cold!! But , if you want to , maybe get nice pastel colors and white colors.Since its Winter. Maybe put snowflakes in some places and a big cake. Yummmm. And put pretty lacey stuff every where.
Hope it works out! ( By the way, if you live in Louisiana, I could get you some help from my mom; she is a caterer.)
