I had all four of mine out not too long ago. Mine were impounded so they pain and recovery was a bit worse. But it shouldn't be terrible. even with my worse situation the pain lasted a max of four days or so. The most helpful things i remembered were:

* keep it clean. my doctor gave me a syringe. I mixed mouthwash and warm water to clean out the holes. It keeps them from getting irritated and heals faster

* don't lay down. I didn't learn that until a couple of days into it but the further you put your head back the more blood you get back there and the more it hurts. If you're in a lot of pain try to sleep sitting up, or only half way laid back and only lay down when you have to.

* buy a child sized toothbrush. they have smaller heads and that way while you're recovering you can brush the back teeth without bumping into your sore spots.

good luck!

You won't feel the extractions and when the anesthesia wears off later, your gums will be sore. At first, you must not disturb the blood clots. That means no gargling or rinsing. Your oral surgeon will advise you on all post-procedure oral care. You shouldn't require any pain medication unless you have a low tolerance for pain. Give the dental office a call and get more information. I'm surprised you haven't already done that.

I had all four of mine out...they were impacted. It hurt a lot. Before you crawl into your bed and go to sleep, put an ice pack on your face. That will minimize the bruising. They'll give you something for pain. It goes away after a few days. Just make sure your wounds don't get infected.

I had my lower teeth pulled in one day. It was no big deal. The main factor is the skills of your oral surgeon. Just try to relax and follow all post operative instructions.

I have had all four of them removed and i went under for all of them. Yes, like any surgical procedure you will have pain, the dentist will prescribe pain killers, mine gave me Tylenol 3 with codeine. The pain won't last long so don't worry.

it all depends on your level of tolerance to pain

I had mine done & I was only numbed & not put out since I had to go home to my son ( he was a baby)
I ate soup & jello for that day & the next then I was fine.
Buy advil or motrin & ask the Dr. if it would be OK
if you take them afterwards.

Nothing some Tylenol or Advil can't fix. Just have a bowl of jello or mash potatoes ready when you get home.

Maybe you should do it one at a time......ur body may not be able to withstand that pain.......remember that kid who died from taking out all four......i personally would take out one now....and do the other in the next month. But we are all different so just be careful..good luck
