She repeatedly denies things that she says about me, even when I have confronted her with it. I have told her in the past that I have heard her say things about me to my father, yet she still denies saying anything. When pressed about this issue, she changes the subject or denies it rather angrily, and says I am just "hearing things."

Why would my mother say this and why is she doing this to me?

Paul

After reviewing the series of questions you have asked about family relationship issues, it appears that you may be paranoid.

If that is not the case, then your family has some serious dis-functionality that you should all deal with, if possible.

At the very least, please consider seeking some professional guidance to help you cope with your situation.

It is NOT normal for your mother to lie about this. It sounds like she just has a problem with the truth. This is the way she is and until SHE decides to change there is not much you can do about it, or you for that matter. Obviously she's embarrassed to be caught when she gets angry or changes the subject. Is there another adult you can talk to? Chances are most people know how your mother is, and will take whatever she says very lightly. Let your own character stand up for you. People won't believe the things she says if they see differently in your behavior.

It sounds like she's affraid of you Paul.

You must have a bad temper, or haven't done really nice things that cause your mom to not being honest.

There's no reason to make your mom or anyone else fear you. It will only hurt you more in the long run.

Get some advice from a mental dr. Paul.

Hopefully she isnt a mother should never talk about her child in a bad way. But if she is maybe she is just angry about things that have gone wrong in her life and she needs somebody to blame it on. either way do not take it personally and just shrug it off and if she wont admit to it and you believe your sources i would simply let her know how you feel and tell her if she doesnt stop she will lose the bond you guys have.

Paul, I'm rather surprised at this. I suggest you have a talk with her in private and just ask her why she does this. Ask if there is something you have done to make her unhappy with you. Ask her politely to stop telling lies about you to other people.

I think we should know a little more about this before we can really answer. For instance.. What kinds of things is she saying and how old are you?

How do you listen to her? Are you open to her comments, or argumentative and defensive? If her experience with talking to you about problems is unpleasant, why would she want to do it?

Maybe take a long, honest, hard look at yourself. If you were someone else, would YOU want to talk to you?

Is she your real mother? Cause a real mother wouldn't deny their own child anything in life.

All parents do this... at least mine do. It's normal, but it definitely gets annoying after a while. Just find a way to vent your stress.
