What is the difference between Methodism and Presbyterianism?

If you want intricate details see the links below. In a nutshell, Methodists prefer to interpret the Bible through reason and logic, a rational approach. Presby's prefer a much more straight forward - what it says it is approach; almost no interpretation. As you would expect, a GENERAL rule between the two is that Methodists are much more liberal while Presbys are normally farther to the right.

Your previous answerers are both right. Methodists are Arminian and Presbyterians are Calvinist. In a tiny nutshell, they have different theological understandings on the sovereignty of god, man's free will, etc.

There is also a big difference in the government within the church, that is, how the church is run.

Now all this will probably not be apparent to a person who just pops in and out on Sunday mornings, but as you become more involved and educated, you would find these differences to be substantial.

(I was raised Presbyterian, later I was a youth minister in Methodist church... now I don't know what I am!!! Ha! Yes I do. I am a Christian!!)

Nothing. They are both Protestant sects who believe in God and in Jesus Christ, but they want to be saved by making their own rules and procedures.
