It sounds as if you are talking about what happened to me when I joined the Navy---was inducted into it.

I was sworn in, they took away my clothes, gave me some that didn't fit, cut off most of my hair, gave me $21 for the first month's pay and took back most of it to pay for the clothes.

This whole thing was the induction process.

In the civilian world it is all the things one goes through on a new job, to get him/her in a condition to start work.
