I have been through several food safety classes and have worked in restaurants for 15yrs-DO NOT EAT THEM! Foods that contain proteins are great places for bacteria to grow and they can grow quite rapidly. Be safe just cut your losses and throw them out!

Food stored at temperatures above 50 degrees Farenheit for more than 1 hour is generally considered "bad," and should be thrown out.
That being said, I'd say that you don't need to throw it out as long as it felt reasonably cool to the touch when you remembered it. If you decide to eat it, be sure to cook it all the way through, just in case.

Were they frozen? If so you'll have a better chance. Were they cooked or raw?
Cooked....may be iffy but may be alright.
Raw.....I might not take the chance. Depends on how lucky you feel. In my mind there would be a 50/50 chance of getting sick off them. I'm sure a dietician would tell you to toss them.
If it were me I'd smell them and take a chance. NY strip can be a pricey cut of meat!

I wouldn't take the chance, cooked or uncooked....either way, any meat left out at room temperature has the chance to grow bacteria. I would discard them, and buy new with a lesson learned.
It is better to be safer than sorry in the long run if you get sick from bacteria infested meat.

If they were fresh to begin with, the kitchen wasn't TOO warm, and they don't reek, I'd go with them. Rinse them and pop them back in the fridge until tonight.
Remember an AGED-Steak is one that IS older... Enjoy

probably not but throw them out anyway. Better to have to buy the steaks again than get sick.

I don't think you should risk it. Better toss them and take the loss!
