Try to fit in a trip down to the south west of England. I live in London but always take friends and family on the lovely drive through Wiltshire to Bath. See stone circles and chalk horses along the way and stop off in a village pub for lunch. Bath is brilliant, historic and very buzzy too. Lots to do in two weeks.

I'm from England and I would say to visit: London [Oxford Street and Covent Garden for shopping], Take one of the red double decker sightseeing buses which you can hop on and off of [but they can work out quite pricey at about £20 per person]. One quick bit of advice don't bother going on the London Eye.. my American friend came over and we both went on it and it was totally boring. You did not even feel as if you were moving and it costs a fortune.

Go to Manchester [you cold also pop across to Liverpool once there to see the whole Beatles thing if you are into that. L'Pool is only about 50 mins drive from Manchester] and they are both about 3 .5 hours drive from London. Alternatively once you get to England you can go to the following websites which provide low costs domestic flights within the UK: www.lastminute.com and www.jet2.com and www.easyjet.co.uk.

Check out Wales and Scotland as well.. both lovely places and Scotland is easily accessible from London if you book in advance with www.easyjet.com for the lowest flight prices. Be aware that if you travel by train it is very expensive in the UK so you could also use the coach network: See: www.megabus.com or www.gobycoach.com Megabus has supercheap coach fares.
Finally for car rental you could use: (a) Easycar Rentals [www.easycar.com] forget Hertz and Avis as they are quite expensive here. Or you could go to the UK price comparison site www.travelsupermarket.com to comparee car rental costs in the UK. Also try www.lastminute.com and click on the car hire tab.

Finally I am not certain about specific B & B's [you could try www.lastminute.com] but staying in the South and South East of England [e.g London and surrounding areas] will be considerably more expensive than staying in the North West [e.g Liverpool, Cheshire and Manchester], North or Central England [e.g Birmingham, Coventry]. If you want to be based near to London without London costs then it is advisable to do searches for B & B's in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghmashire counties which are connectable to London by train and car and approximately 40 minutes to 1 hour 10 mins away. N.B If you drive in London it is an absolute nightmare and there are also congestion charging zones - enquire about one day travel cards which enable you to use the train, underground and buses [if you are travelling from outside London to get to London] If you are intend to stay in London then find out about Oyster public transport cards.

Have a great time!

Well, if you're travelling here I'm gonna assume you want a daytrip in London.

Tip one: Go to the museums, don't go to Madame Tussauds. Go to the galleries, don't go on the Tour Buses.

Tip two: Don't go to Camden Lock. All the tourist guides recommend it, but in all honesty its not worth visiting. Its just some markets with some goths and punks.

Tip three: If you're on the Tube with your family: BUY OYSTER CARDS. They are £3 each, and you can get tube travel for half price. Its £3 maximum a day, so you can go all over London for no more than that. It's worth it.

Tip four: Don't go on "Jack The Ripper" tours or the like. They're dull and boring, and don't tell you anything about Jack the Ripper.

Tip five: Don't bother splashing out on a load of fancy hotels. Three star is perfectly comfortable.

Tip six: Don't try and talk cockney.

Where do u want to go in England?

London is the best place to be in England for me. The transport is easy, its very easy to get around and there is alot of stuff to see. MAny bars, restaurants, clubs, and the people are so cool.
You wont need a car hire in London as it will be moooooore expensive for you. And avoid living in the centre as most tourists do wen they come here!
Its cheaper you look for places out of Central London!
Just to warn you, Though you will have loads fun in London, ITS DAMN EXPENSIVE!

Come to Cumbria!

It's the home of the Lake District http://www.cumbria-the-lake-district.co.uk/ It's definitely worth a visit for lovely views, amazing history and lovely people! Mountains, lakes, rivers, towns, villages and a city. Activities or relaxation. If you want it Cumbria can offer it! (and I don't even work for the tourist board!)

Dont go to London would be my advice! Its very expensive and full of tourists. Depends on the kind of things you like to do and see on your hols?

The UK has so much more to offer than London. Look around - you'll be surprised.
