Oh yeah. Uniforms are uniforms. Everyone has to dress the same, look the same, think the same, eat the same....you get the picture. You may get away with contacts, but don't count on that. After all, where are you going to find a sterile environment to dunk your contacts in saline when out in the jungles of Burma, for instance?

During any basic or boot camp in the military, every thing will be strictly military, including eye glasses and under wear. However, you may be able to pick the toiletries you want like tooth paste, deodorant, etc. But, when you get to your basic training, you will be given a lot of this stuff. That is why we called Uncle Sam 'Uncle Sugar"; he takes care of his own.

I'm not positive about the Navy's policy of having to wear them, but the Army allows you to wear your own glasses, but you have to pay for them and pay to have them replaced if they break. The "birth control" glasses are free and don't break as easily as the designer frames.

It is difficult to get knocked up while wearing those goofy looking glasses. As a matter of fact, nobody wants to play with you.
