There are several programs out there you can purchase, but I would suggest using one of the free practice sites, such as www.typingtest.com. There are stories that you copy and it ranks your wpm, and you can just keep doing it til you improve. There is also a game where you type the letter as it pops up and the speed keeps increasing, this is best when learning the keys without looking. I have gone from 50wpm to 63wpm with 99% accuracy in less than a month.

Hi there. I was having the same question two years ago, and i'd say i've improved a lot in my typing today. I've practiced typing using a typing tutor software which is available for free and can be download from the internet.
There's a list of typing software here: (most of them are free)
http://typingsoft.com/all_typing_tutors.htm#Stamina
Try them :-)

Practice, practice, practice. Download some software that will help you, like Mavis Beacon or Typing Tutor. If you type a little bit every day, you'll start to type faster before you know it. It worked for me...I type 80 WPM.

There are several approaches I know of and they can work together too.
1) Via-Voice - voice command software.
2) "Mavis Beacon" typing lessons
3) use and ergonomic keyboard
4) repetition using the ASDF-JKL; method
5) Spell Checking - but typing the changes yourself
Good Luck!

I learned to type very quickly from chatting on IRC for years. It is probably not the best method, but I type about 130wpm.
