My daughters are 11 and 5 and they are doing the same thing. Its allergies and dry skin. The weather has been changing so much that it is not killing the allergens outside. Plus where the heat has been on in the house, it has really dried their scalp out. They have dryier skin all over though. I would try head and shoulders on her head and maybe give her some benadryl. It seemed to work for my girls. Good luck

It could be just dry scalp which causes it to itch....My 8yr old has the same problem... I read up and started putting vaseline on her head once a week and letting it sit for a couple hrs and then wash it out and her head is fine, or even shampoo and conditioner for frizzy or curly hair has extra mosturizers in it that help as well..

Could be dry scalp but I don't think I would use a dandruff shampoo on a 5 year old. Try a good conditioner. That may help the dry scalp. Even her shampoo may be drying her scalp. You might even start there first!!!

Dandruff, dry scalp, or maybe even a bug bite. Is she scratching in the same spot every time? Sometimes mosquitos can get in there and give you a bite on your scalp.
