Sometimes after reading a question, I try and re-read it while imagining the person sitting next to me speaking it. Here is a little girl saying, "when the rapture comes..." So I get the sense of fear in her eyes. Then she is rationalizing her beliefs by saying she will be saved because she is a Christian, but then she keeps going and has this sort of mischevious, personal laugh for the non-believers, who she thinks will be left behind. Honey, I still smell fear. Why, if your beliefs are so intact, are you still afraid? Pray for yourself and your family and you'll do just fine.

I think we must be very careful that we don't make assumptions about what will happen when the Rapture occurs. Sure, we know about the mechanics of it (we'll hear a trumpet, see a door, and hear a command to "come up here!"); but there's no scripture that tells us how the world will react.
I do know one thing: if it was obviously a Rapture, then everyone in the world would believe, down to the last person. There would be no detractors if it was so overwhelmingly obvious, like the "Left Behind" books/movies would have us believe. This contradicts God's plan.
Isn't it more likely that the Rapture would appear to be something else? For example, thousands of people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki disappeared completely after the bombs went off. There were no clothes left that told us people were standing where they were. Sometimes, shadows were burned into buildings, but the people were vaporized.
That's why I think it's more likely the Rapture will happen concurrently with some other event, such as the detonation of nuclear bombs, for example. Nonbelievers would be able to say it was the bombs, not God.
As for clothes being "left behind," I've always thought that was a bit of artistic license by Tim LaHaye. Scripture tells us we only get our white robes AFTER we've received the judgement of believers in Heaven. If our clothes were left, we'd be naked, and God writes in the Bible that such a thing would be considered punishment. See, for example, Isaiah 20:4 and 47:3, and Amos 2:16. Nope, I think God is going to take us AND our clothes, contact lenses, artificial hips, pacemakers, etc. The unbelieving will not be able to ascertain that a Rapture has happened.
Peace.

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Matthew 24:38-41
According to the Bible, when Jesus comes again, those who are "left behind" are destroyed, the same as those who did not get on the ark were destroyed by the flood.
It is always best to get your facts from the Bible instead of a sensationalist novel like "Left Behind" which is not based in Biblical fact. The rapture and the glorious second appearing are one and the same event. There will be no second chance after Jesus comes again.

God never does anything in secret, so there is NOT going to be a secret rapture! If you do not twist the scriptures you will find that just the opposite to be the case; when Jesus comes ALL will see Him (at the same time), ALL will hear Him (at the same time), and just before His coming ALL will go through the 'tribulation', which is the purifying fire for God's people.

We will get to hear and see all of that first hand from heaven when Jesus shows it. Here it is in the scripture...
Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

You know, the idea of the "rapture" is not a biblical concept. Not that I care, but if it does happen, anyone left behind, which would include myself, would be surprised.

I have a feeling, before the rapture of the church, there is going to be a rash of "alien sightings".....most likely perpetrated by satan and his demons...to fool people into thinking that's what happened when millions of people suddenly disappear. Just a thought, so I agree with you.

As it was told in a book, it will be referred to as a '' cleansing'' of the earth. All of us people who aren't in our right minds will be '' purged'' so that our negative energy won't be able to spread. The feel good people will rule the earth. It's a shame That I won't be here to witness when they realize their error.

I have to read this as a hypothetical question, because I know this will never happen.
I have no idea what I'd think. I'd wait for a reknowned scientist to tell me (wink wink).
