Let them eat what they'll eat. That's what doctors say.
If he/she wants mashed potatoes and chicken then give it to them. They know what they need and when they need it. I'm sure he/she will be fine living on those foods for a few months until they learn to try something new. Trust me, we went through the chicken nugget stage, the spaghettios stage, and even the cold waffle stage and all of them are happy and healthy. God bless!

First of all Patty, I would like to encourage you to relax. It is not as bad as it seems. I have raised 5 children, when I was pregnant with my second, we were both on the WIC program. This meant that both of us had our Iron in our blood tested regularly. At that time, I was eating like I was some Health food Guru. I ate so healthy! My toddler on the other hand only ate about 2 bites of food at every meal & it was not usaully the most healthy part of the meal. My Dr told me that if I provided a nutritious & colorful meal That He WOULD eat what he needed. About a week later, at Our WIC appointment I discovered that he was healthier than me!! THe nutritionist said the same thing the DR. said. She told me just make the nutrituos stuff available at the meal. So just go ahead a put those vegies & fruits in front of him /her, soon it will get eaten. You can also try just giving the toddler fruit of vegies, before bringing out the meat. IF the child thinks thats all there is then the child will eat it, if the child is hungry. Good Luck to you Patty

Try mashing some carrots or other veggies in his mashed potatoes, That way he still get all the nutrition he needs and he will never know! He will probably grow out of it. GOOD LUCK!

My son is one year old too, and he doesn't like a whole lot either- he still has a hard time chewing certain things, so we have to be careful what we give him... so I still give him the baby food- fruits and veggies, and he still loves those. Try fruit puffs- our son loves those, that and kix cereal, cheerios for a snack or with some milk for breakfast.... he also loves graham crackers! We give him yogart too- the Activia helps with his constipation.
My suggestion is to keep trying everything- our son loves to eat what we are eating, so I try to mix it up a lot and make different meals for dinner. If he doesn't eat a certain something, don't give up, try it again... that works with my son too... he will end up eating it after a few tries (different days of course).
goodluck!

My daughter at 1 loved beef, chicken, lamb, sweet potatoes, green beans, and peas. She would not eat
any fruit or jello. By age1 and a half she was scarfing
down macaroni and cheese. Let your little one eat whatever he/she wants. Let her watch you eat and soon
curiosity will over come pickyness and she'll be eating
other foods.

I am a mother of a toddler who is also a picky eater. Let your child eat what he/she likes that's within reason and throw in a vegetable that they like and eventually on their own they'll come around. I've found that you should keep these foods handy and easy to make for your child since I know you don't want to eat what they eat everyday.

Jackson's the comparable way and that i like it. these days he needs what I easily have and could particularly touch his infant nutrition. yet, he will consume very almost an entire toddlers meal at a cafe. final nighttime, I ordered him mac and cheese and that i had gotten a turkey dinner. properly, he ate very almost all of his (in many situations sized toddlers meal) PLUS my mashed potatoes and particularly some the stuffing. Oh yeah, and had applesauce with craberries in it too. Did great! from time to time I difficulty approximately choking, yet i think of with them understanding a thank you to consume puffs and cheerios, they have mastered shifting meals around their mouthes only high-quality. now and returned he will gag on something if he gets too lots, yet he in many situations only strikes the nutrition to chew it a splash longer and he's stable. i've got no longer tried pizza yet, yet while she will consume pizza i think of she's probable waiting to easily save on attempting further and further meals. I even supply Jackson toast with dippy egg yolks (no whites of direction) yet from time to time even a splash white gets jumbled in and there is been no sign of an egg hypersensitive reaction in any respect. i does no longer be nervous if she did great with it. this is so astonishing however!

That is actually really good. Toddlers love the same thing over and over again. Then one day he will move on to a different food love. Enjoy the moment! My son is four and he loves a peanut butter on wheat sandwich everyday and almost every meal. He eats them so much, I am even tired of making them over and over again. I do it for him though.

What is the question again? Most parents would love to have your 'problem'. Most children these days only want what they see on TV. Like junk food, candy, juicy drinks, soda, all food that is bad for them. I would say, if I were you, keep praising the child for what he will eat. Eventually you will be asking yourself, why will my child not eat these things!!!
