The odds of a wrong number in the same area code being one specific person is about 10,000,000-1. But many area codes have the same first three digits (after the area code) for a similar geographical area, so then you are down to 10,000 - 1.

The odds of Powerball are about 115,000,000-1. So you are more likely to dial seven random numbers on the phone and get someone you know, than you are to win the lottery.

Assumptions:

a) the "lottery" is 37 choose 6 for the grand price
hence the odds of winning is 37*36*35*34*33*32
= 1 in 1,673,844,480

b) You have to dial all 11 digits to get the cell phone number and in the phone number cannot start with 0,1,or 9
hence the odds of hitting a specific number in random is
7*10^10 = 1 in 70,000,000,000

Which means that the odds of what you discribed are roughly equals to winning the lottery 41.82 time.

I desire the next is helping you: Is there a Yahoo! Lottery? Does Yahoo! Mail ever present coins prizes? No. There isn't any Yahoo! Lottery, and we could by no means ship you understanding approximately a competition you by no means entered. That’s the definition of unsolicited: you by no means requested for it. The message generally additionally reveals 2 different hallmarks of fraud emails: it looks to be legitimate (with enterprise emblems, even hyperlinks), and it needs pressing movement “to say your prize”, or anything equivalent.
