well, they will make you sit in the Chicago airport for many hours while all the others fly in from other states...when they get there, you get on a bus and drive over to RTC, which is usually late at night...as soon as you step off that bus you are getting yelled at and everything...they made us sound off our social security numbers....one word of advice, if you have a zero in your number, make sure you say zero, not O, cuz they will make you pay...

then you get to go make your 1 minute phone call to let your family know you got there ok...then down the hall there is a barbershop, EVERYONE gets a hair cut...you will go into this big room where they make you walk around it for about 15 mins, as you pass a water fountain, you have to take a big drink, this is because you will have to pee in a cup very shortly and they dont want to waste their time waiting for you...then you get weighed, if you are overweight, prepare to get taped...

then you go to a room where they look through your bag you brought..your recruiter gave you a list of things to bring, the only things you will actually keep are your bras and undies...they will tell you to ship everything else home and you will get it there...at this time, you get your shoes, your SMURFS ( blue navy sweats which you live in for about a week )....they made us sit in this room for 8 hours alternating from putting our heads down to nap, then they wake you up and you stand at attention for another hour...it sucked...

within the next day or so you will meet your RDC's...just be quiet and PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL....its going to be impossible to do but try to keep your eyes open

i left for bootcamp in april and i have lived in Chicago all my life and it still is cold as crap up there in april....just hang in there....it seems like the yelling and hurrying up and waiting will never end but it does get better after service week...

the basics of military courtesy, lots of marching to and from clothing stores, medical (for your shots), possibly dental, the basics of exactly how you are to fold your clothing, you'll be given a book to study that shows all the basics of military procedures and protocols. And be ready for not a whole lot of sleep. And a bunch of lectures from your Training Instructor...usually while you are practicing standing at attention....enjoy, at least in the navy you pretty much only have to endure the bull sh*t during boot camp and maybe your tech school (depends on what tech school you go to)...if you were marines...it would never end.

A lot of yelling. Greatlakes should be a little warm in April. Basically they will do another drug screen. Get your paperwork all squared up, you get your uniform issued and all of your personal belongings will have to be mailed home. You will get shots; bicillin to prevent strep, hep a and hep b, Yellow Fever and Thyphoid vaccinations, they will test for TB also. They will check your eys again. If you have a good pair of glasses bring them and bring a back up. NO CONTACTS in bootcamp. You will be busy for a whole week pretty much.

In processing, learning your left from your right, more in processing, march to chow, more in processing. March to chow, go back to barracks, get yelled at for smoking and joking instead of sleeping. Get up the next morning, watch master at arms turn bunk over of those that do not wake up. Make bunk. Brush teeth. Shave. March to chow. More paper work and in processing. Go to chow. Watch the dummy that tried to smuggle tobacco in do push ups for for a while. March to chow. More chow. Learn more about your left and right. Actually, my recommendation, is that you do take copies of all birth certificates, copies of marriage certificate, high school transcript (ask you last high school for this) and high school diploma. Any Certifications or professional licenses. Drivers license, copy of lease or mortgage if you own or rent your home. If you live with your parents, don't worry about this one. Any dependents you have, birth certificates. Also, take a list of addresses that you have lived in the past 10 years. This will be so that if you need to get a security clearance, you will not have to pick your brain. A list of all past employers and their addresses.

Congratulations! I was in the Army myself. I don't know what you should expect in Navy Basic?

Best Wishes!

You didn't mention where you were going to begin with. I would imagine being on a large ship would mean a lot of menial duties to pass the time. Aircraft carrier? Your question was too vague.

best prson to ask is your recruiter. i can tell you this dont take anything with you. you arent allowed anything but a toothbrush. everything is shipped home. the first few days from what my husband has said are very fepressing. you miss your family and are very exhausting. its a huge adjustment too. good luck

Well, you start off with boot camp. Have fun. The first four days are easy, because they can't work you out properly for the first four days.

Then comes P-5 day......muahahahaha!!!
