The BMI is the Body Mass Index. It is used to calculate your "proportianate" weight to your height. A score between 20 and 25 is good with 25 being on the high end of healthy (too large) with a score above 30 being obese and a score above 35 being imminent coronary. A score under 20 is skinny and under 18 could be anorexic.

BMI-body mass index which is your weight based upon your height. I don't know why some person would tell you to work out because under 18 is healthy and under 15 indicates an eating disorder. I think you either misunderstood the number or the person telling you to work out doesn't know what he/she is talking about.

The BMI (body mass index) is only a very general guideline.

It doesn't take into account body frame (small, medium, large) or muscle mass. Competitive weight lifters would have very high BMIs although they have extremely low body fat percentages.

Body Mass Index
If you mean 15st 1lb iyou are almost certainly too heavy. If you mean that your BMI is 15.1 then you are seriously under weight, you should be above 18. The web site below works out your BMI when you put your info in.
The menu is on the right of the screen.

Body Mass Index ... it's a measure of how much fat is in your body. 15.1 isn't bad at all. Here's more info:
