We got my sons report card and it was excellent and this is a big accomplishment for him since he has ADHD and I refuse to medicate him. I work w/him everyday after school and he has really been trying. He has made great strides in doing things on his own and being accurate. I really want to have a surprise for him when he gets home today. I do pay him for any A's on homework and tests and for A's and B's on the report card.

I dont want to over reward for good grades are to be expected but I'm proud of him and I want him to learn that when you work hard and do well that good things are to come. The comment on video games is so true. We limit his time w/video games and music does help him concentrate. He has joined the orchestra this yr.

I am sorry I don't have a gift idea but just a suggestion. What ever you choose to do make sure it actually involves your time. He is only 10 and you are still so very important to him. At 10 you can still impress him with your just being there especially in his circumstances. And secondly make your choice with the knowledge that in the near future he will out do his present accomplishments and you will want to reward him then too. So your reward this time will need to be less than next time..... something you can build upon. Staying up later, having a friend over, his favorite dinner, having a friend of his join you for dinner out.
Bless you.

I'm not sure what to get him, maybe you could take him to the store to pick something out, then/or take him out for dinner, his choice. I wouldn't recommend you buy video games though, they have been known to make ADHD worse. I have a friend who has ADHD, (well actually I have 4 friends with it) and they all say when it comes to consentrating music really helps, so maybe a CD player, and/or a few Cd's.

Is there something he has really been wanting that doesn't cost too much? If so, get him that. Or get one of those big banners that says congratulations with some balloons to surprise him when he gets home. Then take him out to dinner and some ice cream.
How old is your son anyways?

Make him his favorite dinner and let him prince for the night. I think its great that he did well, but don't go over board on rewarding the grade card, he may start expecting every accomplishment to to hyper-rewarded.

How about a special activity that you do together. Maybe going out to dinner somewhere he likes? Or baking cookies to cupcakes together to celebrate?

Congratulations! Big accomplishment. I think it is great that you don't medicate him. Mp3 player is good or a "leapfrog" learning product
