stay away from all things dairy. also, thick stuff like yogurt, pudding, stuff like that. and be sure your drinks are not too sugary, sugar will cause extra mucous in your throat as well. also, learn how to blow your nose..there is a proper way..take a deep breath, place your tongue up against the roof of your mouth and blow out only 1 side at a time..the more you hack and cough and spit the more there is..my son had this and it was gross!! and this is what helped him tremendously. Good Luck

Your body's production of mucous is a symptom that shouldn't be discouraged. While irritating, the mucous is helping to carry away bacteria and is part of the immune response. Definately continue drinking fluids--make it a point to always have a drink by your side while going through this, and endevor to refill it often.

As others have stated here, you might find it best to avoid dairy products during this time. If you really want that glass of milk, try nibbling on bread or a bagel while you're drinking, and chase it down with a little more bread afterward: Bread products act a bit like a sponge, and help collect milk that would otherwise coat the throat and thicken existing mucous.

Good luck to you! Sinus infections aren't fun!

Sounds like your doing the right thing, just takes time to clear up a sinus infection. Make sure you don't drink milk because if will cause more phlegm...

You are doing the best thing by drinking enough fluids. But do stay away from dairy products, they'll just add to your problem.

Hope you start to feel better.

Citrus will also make you produce more mucus - so, orange juice should be limited (even though it's a good source of Vitamin C).
