In the bible we find LORD and GOD all capitalized with the first capital letter larger than the rest. We also find God and Lord. What proper name do LORD and GOD stand for and; is it correct in light of Today's more accurate knowledge, not to stop their usages and replace them with the denoted proper noun? GOD and LORD are still tittles just like Lord and God. Isn't it more appropriate to use the given proper name denoted by the capitalized form of the titles?

Most Bible versions which have the capitals "LORD" and "GOD" explain why they do it in the preface in the front of the book. Although many modern publishers are removing the preface.

The Hebrew name for the God of the Bible, (YHWH or in english "Jehovah") is found some 7,000 times in the hebrew scriptures alone. The Hebrew scriptures are quoted many times in the greek scriptures as well.

In the places where God's name was found in the original text, Bible revisioners removed the name of God and inserted "LORD" or "GOD" in capitals.

NOT VERY SMART>

The confusion this has caused is catastrophic.

Compare Joel 2:28-32 with the place Peter quotes Joel verbatum in Acts 2: 15-21. Note that in Joel there are Capital leters, but not in Acts where Peter is quoting Joel word for word.

These people wanted you to think that Jesus Christ is God Almighty. They will be held responsible.

Any time the bible refers to Lord or God and it is capitalized, they are referring to the good spirit, the Almighty spirit. But when they refer to the evil spirit it will be lower case letters. That is so the reader can distinguish the difference between them when they study the word of God.

Here's an example...

Deuteronomy 8:19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

In this scripture the devil is lower case... While Jesus is upper case.

Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Not necessarily because the Old Testament tells of the history and since many were unaware of The Lord God, they worshipped gods like Baal, etc. It was important to teach them because they were like children. Also, God sometimes referred to himself that way. We capitalize God because Christians believe He is the creator.

Hope I helped some. I understand your concept and maybe some day it will be that, but we are not allowed to change the Bible.

you generally won't see God in all caps.

the difference between Lord and LORD is that LORD refers to God and Lord could refer to a master of a servant.

This is very prevalent in the Old Testament where the name Adonai could either man human master or it could be a less proper ("sanctified") name for Yahweh.

My name is Angela. My husband calls me Ang, Angie or sometimes, depending on his mood, Angel. Imagine that. Should I only be called Angela though given that it is indeed my proper name? See what I'm getting at? There are different names used to reference God. I see all of them as correct and each just as great as the next.

Lord specifically refers to Jesus, whether it appears in the Old Testament or the New Testament, and God refers to the Trinity. Because all members of the Trinity are co-equal, Jesus is therefore God. All members of the Trinity are in complete agreement; therefore Jesus is God. When Jesus acts, he acts with the authority of God. when Jesus died on the cross, God died on the cross. When Jesus was raised from the dead on the third day, God was raised from the dead. God had power to lay himself down and God had power to raise himself up. When Jesus was conceived and born, God was conceived and born in the flesh. When Jesus walked the earth and ministered, God walked the earth and ministered. When God spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, it was Jesus who was in the form of the burning bush. When God walked as the smoking oven between the sacrifices that Abraham offered it was Jesus that walked as the smoking oven. When Jacob wrestled all night long with the angel of the Lord, it was Jesus that he wrestled with. Many people in the New Testament referred to Jesus as Lord because they recognized who he was---God on earth. You have just gotten the most valuable Bible lesson that you will every get because it is the foundation of the gospel---Jesus is Lord. Because Jesus is Lord the blood of Jesus and only the blood of Jesus saves.

That's just the white washed version. In the original Hebrew there are dozens of names for God. We've just made them all the same.

Think about how li'l it really matters, He knows who He is~ He knows who we are calling when we plead for delivarance. Lord, God, Jehovah, Brahman,Allah, Yahweh, ~ The almighty is what He is, His name is UTMOST, but not one. After all, He is the one who gave us different tongues in the first place.

God means creator, Lord means the one you have given power to control your life. if they are used in the Bible in that way i think its best to keep them that way.
