Rebecca! Trust me, I've been there. If you lose weight fast, it comes back on fast! There's no quick fix. What I did, eventually, was join a Rosemary Conley fitness club. Once a week, I went and did a load of dancing around and although it was very embarrassing at first (because I didn't know the steps, felt like a baby elephant, and kept ending up facing the wrong way!), I came to really enjoy it. They give you diet tips and recipes. Lists of stuff that you can buy from the shops and treats that you can get away with. They weigh you at each meeting and it is so much easier than when you're trying to do it behind closed doors. Everyone is in the same boat and somehow it doesn't seem so bad. AND there's always someone bigger than you! Also, it made me feel a lot more happy about myself.
The first couple of weeks, I lost 7lb each week, because I really, really stuck to the diet. After that, it became more difficult and that was when it was really good to have the encouragement of the group.
I really do recommend a group like that. I hear Weight watchers is a good one and there are probably more available. Try one or them. It will really make you feel much better about your weight.

There is no such thing as a quick weight loss plan. People will promise you this because they want your money. The only way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more. There are fads and potions and pills and books - all to get your money from you. Your body needs to be your way of life, not something you decide to do for 3 weeks then give up because it's too hard. If you starve yourself you'll give up. I think a good way is to enjoy pizza and burgers but try to limit them to twice a week. I think it's fine to have a curry take-away on a Friday night as long as you're healthy the rest of the week. Walk instead of driving or taking the bus, get up earlier if you need to. Make exercise fun by buying a bike or joining a line dancing class or whatever you enjoy. Have fun!

Take anything with sugar out of your food intake. If you need a sweetener use a little honey. Next limit the amount of fat . This is hard but it will work. Do twice as much of your favourite thing that makes your body move ie. swim ,run, walk, hike, work in the garden if you don,t have one help someone else.Just watch your very favourite tv and use the rest doing anything that is active. Its a slow process, but if you are true to yourself it will take some time but once you have started {don't let your deal go down} Your smile and a better feeling will return as you try. Cheers

you should cut out the junk food but not completly just have a bar of chocolate at the weekend or a bag of crisps. because other ise your more likly to binge on the unhealthy foods , join the gym and go for a run aim for 30 mins to `1 hour of exercise a day. its best to do this before you eat your breakfast as it speeds up your metabalism. aim to only lose about 2 or 3 pounds a week as that is a healthy amount. good luck

I find calorie-control and meal replacement works the best - it did with me, and I managed to lose almost 2 stone in half a year. Stick beneath your recommended daily calorie count, do a little bit of exercise each day and eventually you'll see some results :) Just remember that the only sure-fire quick way of losing weight is through liposuction or losing limbs, and frankly I wouldn't go there! It's a gradual process - just stick with it and you'll be cool.

Any cardio exercise helps strengthen the heart and lungs, allowing the body to make better use of the fuel you put into it.
Eat more small meals, more regularly to stave off hunger.
Run, cycle or swim 2-3 times a week, remember to push yourself, if you can't jog, walk briskly.
The more muscle your body has, the quicker it burns calories, so if you do a little bit of weight training, this will help greatly, but don't go into heavy weights unless you want to look like the circus strongman. Use light weights, cans of beans or bags of rice etc and aim to do 15-20 repetitions of bicep curls, triceps stretches.
Diet and exercise, not one or the other

You're 14 so don't do anything extreme.

We have a few teen members at the Kimkins site and this is what I recommend for them:

First, cut out the junk food and fast food. Second, cut out the soda. Third, pick more chicken, fish & meat plus veggies and skip starches (bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, corn). Four, limit fruit to 1 per day (adults, no fruit).

Lastly, you're still building bone so make sure you get at least 3 servings of dairy -- milk, yogurt, cheese.

Be sure to take a vitamin each day. Ask your mom to buy some. Children's Centrum is very good and chewable -- only take ONE a day.

Rebecca, fast is never the way to lose weight. One of the best suggestions I can give you is to speak with your doctor or a nutritionist about how to lose weight safely. The nutritionist will look at how tall you are and your weight and come up with a target weight lost and nutritional plan.
Also speak with your parents about joining a gym (if you don't belong to one already). They will usually have 1 or 2 trainers who work with minors. They will come up with a good exercise program for you which will help you build muscle, and let you know what your true BMI is (those computerized ones are inaccurate. because they don't differentiate between muscle and fat)

I suggest eating an apple after lunch and dinner because it cleans out your system. Also, don't stop eating, just limit your calorie intake to 1500/day, and drink plenty of water. Don't be like Nicole Richie, falling out in public and requesting water.... lol. If you don't lose weight when you finish high school, keep in mind that college will help ya out because your focus will be on your studies. Take Care, but be proud of your curves!!!
