Some people really just don't like the taste or texture. But if prepared properly escargot can be delicious. I had it once with a tomoto sauce and breadcrumb and cheese topping- it was delicious! You really couldn't even taste the escargot itself. So don't give up on it yet. My husband always tells me to try everything twice because the first time may have just been a bad day.

Yes I have tried Escargot. I was not disgusted the first 2 times but the third time was done improperly and actually made me very ill. I have had it since then and it was done well. You may have just had an inexperienced chef or a bad batch of snails.

Well, the texture does take some getting used to. Really escargot is just a delivery vehicle for garlic butter...

Escargot is really wonderful in many dishes IF COOK PROBABLY. Most people buy it in a can that are right in texture. They taste close like abalone or scallop (not like how you think). It is good as a finger food and try it with lime, diced onions and some dice fresh chili....is WONDERFUL. If you do not like professionally cooked scallops, you will not like escargot.

I had it for the first time this summer on vacation.
It was in a green butter sauce and surprisingly very good. You just had to get over the fact that it looked like a little snail.

As soon as it made it to my mouth it was projected into a napkin as discreetly as possible, but I think it wasn't all too discrete... the texture, the taste, the thought, im starting to feel ill...

Have a GREAT day!

I've had it French style- six escargot in garlic butter
and Chinese style - a whole plate full sauteed in black bean sauce
Either way, it's great~

No, I try to stay away from slugs and bugs during mealtimes. If I didn't know it was snails, I might not care (I thought they were supposed to taste like garlic chicken).

Sorry, I never have. I have seen enough snails in the garden and the thought of eating them appalls me to the point of nausea.
