She has begun to cry quite a bit when I put her in her bed, but goes to sleep within 10 minutes or so. Then she'll wake up and cry for long periods of time. I'm not sure if she doesn't want to be left alone or if she's having bad dreams or what. Last night she cried for probably close to an hour before I finally went in and rocked her. I put her back in bed awake and she cried for a little while, not sure how long, then she slept (or at least was quiet) for about half an hour and was back to crying. She has done this for three of the last four nights. (I don't know what was different about the night that was normal.) I'd like for all of us to sleep tonight. Any ideas on what's causing this and/or what to do about it?

I had 2 over the charts colicy babies. THey are now 7 and 4
I always say the best and most soothing thing to the both of them was so have a background noice, such as a humidifier always running, the simple humming sound did wonders for my kids and myself! And.. I still run humidifiers in both kids rooms, this blocks out any unnecessary noices throughout the night! THey cannot go to sleep without it on. Good luck.

Just when you thought teething was long gone...the two year molars! I'm sure this is nothing to worry about. I'd just wait it out. If it still going on for a week, I'd call the doctor but she is probably just in pain, the poor thing! Try some Tylenol before bed, hope this helps!

If she wakes up crying and doesn't go back to sleep after a few minutes. Go get her and let her sleep with you.

I understand that you have been taught that babies just cry and probably perceive it as an inconvenience in your life...but seriously she is crying because she's upset. Comfort her. It's not rocket science.

Don't let her take a long nap during the day. Put a night light on for her at night. Don't give her any sugar during the day. Don't give her dinner too late at night, five or six at the latest. Take her out to the park during the day if it's not too cold. Give her a warm bath before she goes to bed and lotion her up, and take time to brush her hair and talk to her about happy things. Make her relaxed.

I was a fussy baby and I didn't sleep but that was because my mom didn't have enough milk so I was always hungry. See if she's hungry and make sure she's not too hot or too cold. She should sleep in something comfortable and warm. Try laughing in a bed next to her to assure her you're going to be there. All babies are different and if she was really tired she would be sleeping. If none of this works you should see a docter and see what they say.

he might be out of sync ! get him a good routine for bed time . When my boy was little i 'd get him eased into it by giving him a bath before bedtime and make sure he has ate enough befor , so he does not wake up during the night . And sometimes playing some soothing music will do the trick too!
He also could be theeting !check for swollen gums !

My son did somthing similiar to this around 2 yrs old. He was getting leg cramps, from teething! Yes when he was getting in his two year molars his legs would cramp at night, his dr told me to give him a dose of childrens tylenol or motrin just before bed time.
The warm milk is a good idea too, also give her a calm warm bath before bed, no splashing just "shhh listen to the water" type bath. this helped too.

If she's been a good sleeper up to this point, that sounds kindof unusual. Maybe she's gotten old enough for nightmares and the "monster in the closet". Have you tried a night light?

I can't think of anything else except maybe she's sick.

They are called night tremors. Children just wake up screaming for no reason. My son did it for a couple of weeks and then he was fine. Hang in there. She will outgrow it. I didn't believe my cousin when she said her son would wake up doing this until it happened to me. Happens between the ages of 2 and 3.

May be a shorter nap time during the day will make her more tired at bed time. Also, try getting a nightlight and a special teddt. My brother was like this and my mom got him a "special" teddy call Dream Ted which comforted him at nighttime and kept bad dreams away!!
