Also, I know that the ranking is different between army and coast guard, but is the ranks, E1-E9, and O1-O9 equivalent in both areas of military?

I mean, Is the E-5, in the army just as important as E-5 in Coast Guard, and same goes with the O's,

Or is the 'petty officer', the same, and have same power of a sergeant?

I hope you understand what I'm trying to ask.

Not necessarily. First, the Coast Guard would have to accept your current Paygrade. they may make you take a rank reduction or two.

the pay grades are equal, but the ranks themselves may not be. for insatnce, the CG is a much smaller service, so more responsibility is heaped upon their people sooner. It is entirely possible that an E6 in the CG is running their own cutter and is the senior guy , whereas I doubt that you will find a similar set up in the Army.

Yes they are the same. If you were a real O-3 you would know this and would already have talked this through with personnel and a career councilor. As for your questions petty officers and sergeants have the same power and responsibilities they just do them differently. E and O pay grade system is the same in all branches of the military. The only difference being the titles example an 0-6 in the navy and coast guard are captains while in the army they are known as colonels. Get it got it good and stop impersonating an officer you suck at it.

It will depend on two things. If your rank is listed as permanent, and not temporary, there is a chance.

However the coast guard has little use for Tank drivers, so if your MOS in the Army will transfer, it might work.

Otherwise, you will be dropped to your highest permanent rank.

I guess what I am saying here is that if you were a three star general inthe Army, you ain't about to transfer to a three star admiral in the Coast Guard.

ranks are the same but a e5 coasty has more dutys than most e5 good example they patrol in the boston wailers around here in the chesapeake bay with a few e1 e3 but the e5 is the oic on small craft. its alot diffrent than the army even a e4 is like god on small craft.if youre a officer and crossed over you still would have to get you coast guard qalifications
