Since AVG Free isn't going to be along for much longer, and I don't want to pay for the pro, what other program is there? I used Avast and find it too slow.

AVG will still be free, it's just that the version you have is probably 7.1 and the new FREE version is 7.5 which you can download from here http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5

The last one I came across was the "One always gets what one pays for". Remember that!
Any way, go to www.pcworld.com and look in their reviews library for security programs. I know they had a real informative article about security programs a couple of months ago.

http://spywareterminator.com is an excelent free program. -includes-anti virus-real time protection-HIPS and does a much better job than avg.

I think Avast is a very good one. It is not that slow. It is far more lighter than norton.
