OK, I'm sick of people using the BMI. Ears, Smellysox, Rosemarie, and Nova Wren I’m talking to you. The BMI MAY give you a general idea, but for the most part it's useless. BMI ONLY takes weight into consideration and that is misleading. Someone who is a small framed person might be 5'10" and 185 and be overweight. If I was 185 I would be 2-3% body fat. Have your body fat checked. Use those numbers to determine if you are overweight, or obese. However, your current weight sounds somewhat unhealthy as it is. If you need to make changes, make lifestyle changes. Find activities that you like, and try to eat healthier (plus smaller portions more often as opposed to 3 meals).

Obese is usually considered more than 20% over the suggested weight on the height/weight chart for your height. Many more people come up obese that way than by subjective methods like appearance. I would not consider you obese but you probably need to lose 30 to 35 pounds by the chart. Increasing cardio exercise and cutting back on calories always works.

You're BMI (body Mass index) is 29.2ish. According to the CDC, you are overweight boarding on obese. Webmd.com has a great list of different diets and explains them all. Check it out, and find the right one for you. My tip: The only way to lose weight is to eat less calories than you burn a day. You can find out your BMR (base metabolism rate) by entering BMR into a search engine or by going here: http://www.internetfitness.com/calculators/bmr.htm
I wish you the best of luck! I have lost over 80 pounds, from 220 or 140

I would say that you are slightly overweight, not obese. If iyour weight bothers you, try going for walks, or maybe take some Tae Kwon Do lessons. That's what I did. You should never feel badly about your weight unless it affects your self image. Don't let anyone on yahoo answers tell you that you're obese. Love yourself for who your are and for your accomplishments, not how much you weigh, or how you look.Your looks should be important to you, not to everyone else. Remember, the shorter you are, the cuter you are. Take it from me. I'm 5'1".

It is a difficult type of question, weight depends on a lot of things like age, activity level, as well as height weight and other measurements.
you can calculate your own BMI (body mass index) online, at that will give you a general idea but don't take it as law every time.
According to the one BMI calculator I used, you were borderline overweight/ obese, but like I said, you are the only one that can really tell.

It really depends on your body structure. I would guess that is overweight, not obese, but again it all depends. You can go to a gym or doctor, have them calculate body fat, that will give you a better idea. Pounds can be decieving. You could be 200 lbs but solid muscle, and that would not be technically considered even overweight. or you could have no muscle and all body fat and 20 extra pounds be considered obese. See a doctor go to a personal trainer at gym.

your BMI (body mass index) is 32.8. Anything over 30 puts you in the obese category. Time to start exercising and dieting. Start out by just cutting 500 calories a day and taking a brisk walk for 20-30 minutes (as long as you can stand). good luck!
look at this: http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/adult_BMI/english_bmi_calculator/results_obese.htm?pounds=172&inches=60.75

I think you are considered overweight on the verge of obesity...technically. I am the same height and weight you are and I know I am overweight, but I don't feel obese. I am a tight size 14, and I get compliments on my figure. But hey...they say I am bordeline obese...LOL

Well you are just over weight...because according to your height you should be around 140-145...and you only over by 20-30lbs..so you are not obese..but you are overweight. Start exercising 3 times a week....and eat healthy and you should be in good shape by summer.

yes you are, your BMI (body mass index) says that you should weigh between 125-140. So you are about 25-30 pounds overweight. So good ways to slim down is cutting junk food, soda, and fast food out of your diet. no reason to do extreme dieting, if you eat healthier you will drop the pounds. I know cause I used to be just like you. Anymore questions feel free to email.
