Any kind of heat is bad for your hair. I'd reconsider this.
If you must, make sure and condition alot after.

A straightening iron is simply a device that smoothes out your hair using heat. I use one every day! No chemicals are involved and it does not take long. It's on the same level as curling your hair with a curling iron....it's not permanent and if you don't like it, just wash your hair.

Straightening your hair will definitely give it a better, cleaner and softer appearance.
If you won't like it, you can always wash your hair and go back to your normal look. Straightening your hair doesn't involve any chemicals or other substances, and the only 'secondary effect' it may have, is burning your hair if you use it intensively (on a daily basis).
Depending on your hair texture, volume and quantity, the whole straightening process can take between 10 and 30 minutes.
I'd say give it a go. But don't become addicted!

I use one pretty regularly and it's nothing to be afraid of. Basically it's a small heat plate on a stick that you press on both sides of your hair to make it straight. Depending on your hair type it's a 10-40 minute process. It washes right out and it only involves chemicals if you want them. There are creams to put on your hair if you want to lessen the damage. Basically, the straightener flattens your hair from root to tip. Don't be afraid of it, just know that it's very damaging to your hair if you decide you use it regularly. I don't think you friend would purposely hurt you but straighteners are incredibly hot so be careful and don't use it around water because it's very electrical. Your hair has to be completely dry for best results.

Curling Iron and a straightener serve DIFFRENT purposes. Curling Iron , you utilize to curve your hair Is uggest no longer utilising curling iron. It does not somewhat supply off a organic curling seem.in case you % your hair to seem curly for a specail ocassion perchance then scrunching is the best thank you to flow. Take a bathtub or moist your hair and placed moose on your hands scrunch the moose on your hair for variety of 5-10 minutes then spray it with protecting spray (this works extra suitable with short hair). A straightener is my own universal. stable to do away with even the smallest little curls. It thoroughly straightens. in case your lookig for tuns of volume i do no longer recommend utilising a starightener. Um so i think of a straightener is your best option because of the fact a curler does no longer supply me the delight of organic hair. desire this solutions your question?

no chemicals involved
once you wash your hair it will go back to the way it was
a hair iron is like a claps(i think)
well it wont damage you hair unless you put the heat to high and dont use a hair product that protects it(this is not necessary though)
i use it just to ease out the frizz. i have straight hair but when i want to go sleek i use it

yea sure your hair is long enough to do it. all she will do is take a section of your hair close the straightener between your hair and slide it down to the end of your hair. if ur hair is thick it might take about 5-10 minutes if ur hair isn't too thick it will take about 3-5 minutes. she may use a straightening aid but it won't hurt. if u don't want her to use it just tell her and she probably won't it can be done with out them. and yes if you wet your hair it should get its regular texture back

get product that protects the hair form heat first. there's therma care and many other inexpensive ones or use a leave in conditioner.
and make sure she does it short bursts so you don't burn your hair.
this was very popular in the 60's and 70's. us poor folks with really long hair actually used an iron over a towel on the ironing board!
it is drying but once in awhile wont hurt.
be careful cause its hot
and have fun!
