Depends on the kind. If you don't mow the yard, the grass there might grow to about 2 ft high (usually a mix of annual, perennial, and weeds, which aren't grass.) Grass on golf courses might not get that high (plus, they keep the fairways mown.)

But pampas grass (from the grasslands in S. America) gets big and bushy, usually about 4-6 feet tall. Bamboo, which is a type of grass (no, really) can get ginormous, like, 30 or 40 feet tall, or as tall as they need it for martial arts movies.

Check a lawn care book, landscaping, gardening book, something like that. I mean, I don't have my botany books with me.

It depends on the type of grass. Some types only grow an inch or so while others grow to heights in excess of 10 feet.

It's not something I would advise. In drought situations the turf will dry out very quickly and during heavy rains will become waterlogged from lack of adequate drainage. Containers would help to break up the area and you could have a pleasing display of your favourite plants. Edit. Two feet of soil would probably be ok but I would drill through the concrete as the other person says, just to be sure of drainage. The answer saying that the retaining wall would not survive is wrong, as a properly constructed wall, with appropriate mortar mix and engineering bricks below ground and for two or so courses above ground, would be fine, just as long as it has a good foundation, not just sitting on concrete.

Under eating and under sleeping can, to some extent, stunt your height growth. Exercise does not help your height growth and smoking can actually reduce your potential height by a whole inch.
You can see further tips in a web search to grow taller naturally.

Lack of sleep can prevent proper growth. Get at least 7 hours of sleep per night.
Drinking milk may help you get taller, but it might make you fatter. Drink one or two glasses of milk a day.
Hanging onto a bar or something helps to lengthen your spine and will, in the long run, increase your height.
