My ex-boyfriend is constantly texting me or IMing me, but he claims when I ask him or when his friends ask him that he doesn't care about me and he only talks to me because its "something to do."
When something happens and it's against me, he instantly takes the other side and to everyone acts like he hates me; then he texts me right after, sometimes even apologizing.
Does he really still care about me? I don't really care; I have a boyfriend who I love very much, but I just want to know. It's not like it bothers me, but whats he mean?!

If you don't care for him anymore, you may want to ask him to stop texting/IMing you. Your current boyfriend might not like it that the ex is still in the picture and might not take your word for it that the ex means nothing to you as appearances can be misleading.
If you've moved on, does it really matter what his feelings are? Besides, he can't care for you that much if he's swayed so easily and talks against you at the drop of a hat then apologizes later to you in private. If he loved you, he'd stick up for you in front of his friends. He sounds wishy-wasy and not a man you want in your life anyway.
Bid him begone and be happy with your new beau.

In my opinion, he still likes you, but he does not make a move because he knows you have a boyfriend and love him. He takes the other side of the argument, because it is a way to have some conflict with you, some interaction. It is very important to have someone to genuinely argue with.

Apparently he hasn't grown up enough if he still has to put on a front in front of his friends. Why would you want to bother with someone who isn't going to be genuine to you just because his friends may be around? Let him grow up a little and then see if he can treat you any better...

This guy sounds like a total loser. Maybe you need to stop talking to him completely. But I will admit that it does sound like he may still be feeling something for you but the way he expresses it is way out of line. He's probably a little confused too.

If he is still sending you messages then more than likely he still cares about you. And it's a pride thing to act the way he is around his friends.

Sounds like it does bother you or you would not be on here asking this question, I would suggest telling him to get his own life and moving on cause you have, and if he does not respect that then there is an ignore button use it girl. Good Luck!
