I just got a letter today from Selective Services. What is Selective Services? Do I really have to fill it out? Is it just a ploy to get me to sign up for the army or something or can I really be sent to jail and fined like it says. Real answers only....theyre greatly appreciated

Chill kid you are required by law to fill it out and give it to the post office. It doesn't mean your joining the military it puts your name on a list that if the draft were ever reinstated you could be called there are no exceptions so fill it out and send it. It's been the law since 1980's all males that turn 18 must fill out the form. don't sweat it it's nothing.

Yes you most fill it out and turn it in. Failure to register will prohibit you from employment by the government or in some cases receiving government aid.
It was instituted to have a list of names should we ever need a draft. No recruiter will contact you after you register with the Selective Sevice agency. The S.S. is a useless orgainization like the Commerce Department.
Cows will jump over the moon before we ever have a draft again.

Dude every one has to sighn up for selective service its not a trap its so they can call on you to fight if the services are exuasted and they need people to fight AKA the draft its your duty as an American to fill out that form If you dont wanna do this you should move to a different country anyways the draft is always a last resort the military is all volunteer right now and thats the way it will stay god willing because as some one who has recently enlisted in the millitary I wouldnt want to have to depend on someone who doesent even want to be there

Yes, all males must register w/in 30 days of their 18th birthday. It is not signing up for the army, but rather letting the government know who out there is available to fight if they were to require individuals to fight, which they presently aren't.

It is not a ploy, everybody must sigh up for selective service. it does not mean that you have to enlist, it is just used for draft purposes.

It is a mandatory program that you have to sign up for when you turn 18. It doesn't mean you have to join anything, but if they ever brought back the draft, your name would be in the bucket.

Yes you have to fill it out. No, it doesn't mean you're getting drafted. Every male has to register by their eighteenth birthday.
