You get your paycheck and you see the following on it: Gross pay was $2,999.24. Of that, $250.00 are benefits. $1,232.68 was withheld for taxes, insurance, etc. What percent was withheld from his gross pay? What percent of the total gross pay are the benefits?

You have access to a calculator (the computer you used to post this is a calculator). Divide the amount withheld by your gross. Move the decimal point 2 places to the right. The result is the percentage.

comon....its easy

round off the numbers.....

you have $3000 right?.......break it up into tens and go from there. ten percent is 300 right?......you know half of that, 150, would be 5 percent.......

breaking it like that gives you increments, then just add the increments you need.....
