My boyfriend is now in the hospital for attempting suicide. What should I do?

Talk to him until he give ups the thought of suicide, give him confidence there is no problem that can not be solved, and that you are there for him all the time.You tell him that there are people who love him a lot.

You best bet is to be very supportive. Visit him when he is allowed to have visitors and show him that you are there for him. Suicide attempts are a call for help and he is getting the help he needs. Being supportive will mean a lot to him.

Been there. Mine did it twice but I do not recommend what I did. I got angry. I did it because I realized he was doing it for pity and to get his way. He never did anything that was seriously life threatening.....just things that would appear that way (that mysteriously failed). I got mad and told him I would not stand for childish behavior anymore. He woke up.
However, your boyfriend may be truly miserable. I would recommend that you stick by him but not in a doding kind of way. INSIST that he get into long term counseling and make sure he does it even if you think he is doing OK for a while. He needs to explore the reasons why he cannot cope and what is the cause of his grief.

Ouch. That is awful... what triggered this suicide attempt? Do you think it's a way to seek attention, or do you feel that there is a deep seated emotional problem at hand?

Dear fellow, being a friend you should help him. Try to ask him whether he is in some depressive state, if so help him to come out of this condition by telling him that his life is imp. for you,and you love him.
You should also tell him that suicide is strictly contraindicated from God. Our lives are imp. not only for us but also for God,He loves His people and don't let them to make any harm to their lives.

First thing that comes to my mind is expressing your anger at what he did right now will only make things worse, he needs help and compassion right now.

i'm not quite sure what exactly you mean by "what should i do"...
your boyfriend is sick...if you are not a dr. then there is little that YOU can DO....you can be loving and supportive and that's about it...

Above all, never try to handle his problems yourself. Always know who to call and where to go when he gets like that.

Try to be his help as best as you can. If water is still boiling hot, just stay cool. don't ever push it....can be a great help to him just by "staying" with him..
