Should I send a thank you card to the hostess who went all out?
And if yes, what should it say?

I would say no, you would not send a thank you in that situation

That is totally up to you. If you feel the hostess deserves a hand-written thank-you, then by all means send her a card to let her know what a wonderful job she did. But generally, the only thank-you cards that get sent out after a baby shower (or bridal shower even) are sent out to the guests by the woman who is pregnant who received gifts (or from the bride, in the case of a bridal shower).

Yes you should send a thank you card. People don't do that anymore but it's a really nice gesture. It should say. Thank you for hosting such a wonderful baby shower. I had a great time. Add some sort of compliment here (the cake you served was delicious, what is the recipe? You should think about party planning for a living). I look forward to seeing you again. With regards, Your name.

Not to a baby shower you dont.A thank you on your way out the door would of been appropriate and letting the host know how good of a job she done would of been nice. You will probaly recieve a thank you card in the mail for going to the baby shower or giving a gift.

It's never incorrect to send someone a short note thanking them for including you in some social affair. I'd avoid a the 'birthday card' type of 'thank you' notes though, and simply write out your own message on pretty stationary or a generic note card.

No, you should be receiving a Thank You note for the gift you brought.

Considering that a baby shower is nothing but a haggling for gifts in a materialistic society, I think the gift is thanks enough
