My mom is a severe alcoholic. She drinks from
the time she wakes up to the time she go's
to bed !!! Her Boy friend told me that she wakes
up in the middle of the night just to have a beer.
I've talk to her about it before and she got all

I wont see Her for a month.
But I feel that something needs to give,,,and my Mom needs help. Where can I get help for her? What can be done?

I'm a recovering alcoholic myself, and it's different for everyone. My mother died from her alcoholism, but there were other contributing factors as well. You may try an intervention with a religious official standing by (that got me), or in some states, you can have the person involuntarily committed. But as the others said, she'll have to want help. I did, my mother didn't.

She has to want to stop. Take her out somewhere where it's just the two of you, let her know how much you love her and will be there for her. Let her no that you know this is difficult and that she's probably afraid that she can't stop. Assure her that it is possible if she wants it. Tell her there are medications on the market now that can help her stop. If she doesn't want to stop, ask her what is going on in her life that she feels alcohol can remedy. So many waste their lives and don't mean too. Before they know it, their life is over and they regret not having made the changes when they could.

The only thing you can do is to get help for yourself thru alanon or a similar support system. Talk to a professional about intervention and do be codependent. Alcoholics must want help to get better. They must admit that they are powerless agaisnt alcohol and seek treatment. Good luck and you'll be in my prayers.

Help her by keeping the refrigerator full of beer, the liquor cabinet fully stocked, and don't drink her stuff! She will only get violent and crazy if she thinks that you are swilling her booze. Make sure that she also has a wide variety of mixers so she doesn't get stuck on the same drink. There is a store by me called World of Beer that always has over 200 kinds of beer in stock. Get her a gift certificate there for her birthday or for Christmas. Don't forget about New Year's!!!

So Sorry to hear of your mom's trouble. BUT it is up to her to get the help she desperately needs--nothing will ever change until she is ready, unfortunately. Please seek help for yourself in the meanwhile. It is a family disease and even though you are apart geographically, it is harming you too. Good Luck and God Bless. I will remember your mom in my prayers tonight that she will make the decision to begin her recovery.

I would call you local chapter of AA and get some advice from them. It sounds, in my uneducated opinion, that your mother really needs to be in rehab ASAP. Good Luck to you!

they have to him rock bottom.
if they can't hit rock bootm themselves,
make a rock bottom for them.
have them arrested and then they have to chose rehab or jail. former Pres. Clinton did it for his brother.
