Asking this type of question of people that you have NO idea of their taste preference indicates that you must be new to this planet. Grubs (insect larvae) are considered to be a delicacy in certain parts of the world. The French, perfected the technique of preparing snails for human consumption.
Oysters, raw or cooked...it depends not just on taste preferences, but texture, too.
My preference? Neither. If I have to eat one, I'd prefer the cooked, smoked are even better. Raw oysters have the consistency of mucous,,,just can't get past it.

Taste is so very personal so you are the only one to judge. But they must be tasty to many as the price is very high for both.

If you are going to try, start with the urchins as they are more mild in flavor. Oyster are far better just fresh and raw but can be cooked well. Start with baked oysters and then the fresh ones on the half shell. A good Japanese restaurant would be a good place to try any of the above.

I was quite young when my parents started me eating oysters because we lived in the Gulf coast region and they were plentiful. Now I adore oysters cooked in any method. I really like raw oysters with lemon, salt, pepper and a touch of vinegar and Tabasco but I am afraid to eat raw oysters for health concerns these days. You may want to start with fried oysters and then try oysters bienville or rockerfeller:

Sea Urchin is delicious. I was introduced to sea urchin late in life at a sushi restaurant. In France (my hubby is French) people go out to the rocks on the Mediterranean and pry off the sea urchins and eat them raw: they are considered a great delicacy.

Oysters, like any other food, appeal to some people and are disliked by others. By all means try one or two, that is the only way you will know if you like them or not.

Oysters on the half shell (raw) taste awful and feel slimy. You also usually get a few grains of sand with them. BUT when they are in stew, smoked, or broiled, they are delicious.

Oysters are good if cooked in delicious ways.

I like to grill them, then wrap in prosciutto and top with fresh grated parmesan. I also like them in garlic and butter, hot sauce, and curried.
