Isn't the rule for TCAS "configured with six or more passenger seats"? Is TCAS offered as an option on the Eclipse?

(For the benefit of edsleman: TCAS stands for "traffic alert and collision avoidance system". But if you didn't know this you couldn't possibly be able to answer this question. I'm looking for responses from informed users only please.)

TCAS on the Eclipse will not be offered for another 6-12 months.

There is no requirement for TCAS under Part 91.

For Part 135 (Commuter & On Demand Operations), No person may operate a turbine powered airplane that has a passenger seat configuration, excluding any pilot seat, of 10 to 30 seats unless it is equipped with an approved traffic alert and collision avoidance system.

No not yet, according to the FAA.
It will probably have to in the near future. Why?
As a friend put it, with all of these new VLJ's coming out many pilots who can afford them will purchase them with not enough professional training and there will be a lot of lawn darts hitting the ground.

However there is a small system out now that is adaptable to smaller aircraft and is indeed an on board alert mechanism, but what it really tells you is there is another aircraft within a specified range. Nothing more.

I don't believe that the Eclipse will have TCAS, I know it will have TAWS as well as being certified for RVSM. If you go to Eclipse website that have a full list of the panel etc... that the aircraft will be equipped with.
